Touch to move
Lead like a tango dancer.
Tangelligence is the capability to touch someone in a positive way, with a positive outcome. We bring over a century of wisdom from the Argentine Tango dance floor into coaching and leadership training.
Our philosophy: Tang[o Int]elligence
Whenever we work with people we draw on what tango dancers know about leading and following. A good leader on the dance floor never pushes — and a good follower is far more than passive.
… when leading
- open new space for your followers
- lead by seducing, instead of pushing
- use clear signals instead of force
- adjust your step size to that of your followers
- develop a true connection — and be skilful in maintaining it
… when following
- use awareness to maintain contact
- be precise in your feedback to the leader
- be the leader's coach
Every touch has three moments
Before the touch
Build an inner connection first. Get to know what the people you are about to lead want and what they are capable of.
In the moment of touch
Tenderness combined with clarity. People follow a clear signal out of free will — a push only builds up resistance.
After the touch
The most overlooked phase. Don't break the connection: follow your followers, wherever they go.
Life is short. Short, and not about anything except what you can touch and what touches you.
